Small Claims Court is a viable alternative to hiring an attorney that will charge fees as high as $500.00 per hour. In Small Claims Court you represent yourself or your company, even if it is a corporation. You save on attorney fees and have hands on approach to your own litigation. You will have to pay filing fees and service fees which vary depending upon the amount you are suing for. You can sue for any amount up to $5,000.00 plus costs and fees, all are recoverable if you prevail.
Below is a list of questions you should be able to answer before you proceed.
Do you have proof of the amount you will be suing for?
Do you have all the information on the party you will sue?
Are you aware of any disputes or objections in resolving your claim?
Are you prepared for mediation and trial?
When you win your suit will the defendant be able to pay?
These and many more subjects will be covered in this three hour (3CEU Credit hours) Seminar.
